Crown Sampler 1840 by Jeannette Douglas calendar crates by stitching with the housewives Stitch count: 77w x 77hI am delighted to share this antique with you. It is from 1840 of Dutch origin. The sampler had lots of great motifs and I loved the top rows of crowns and shields, but the composition did not please me, it had large blank spots on it. I saw this piece as more enjoyable in the vertical format as like a band sampler with the bottom coming to a point. It is framed in the photo but would look equally wonderful with a hem stitched edge. Design Size 7 5 8
