Its first aging takes place in barrels with light tannins and the second is within the Fort de La Pree, a historic monument constructed in 1626 overlooking the ocean. Bathed in the spray of the Atlantic Ocean whose waves reach within meters of the cellar, the aging location of Ile de Re Cliffside Cellar gives the Cognac an exceptionally round and decidedly oceanic character.
