As a juvenile it is blue and yellow with pale vertical stripes over its body which curve towards its head. When it matures its body becomes lighter and each scale is edged in lighter yellow, making a latticework effect. The edges of its fins become edged in bright blue and yellow and it develops a blue circular 'crown' pattern on its forehead. Not all fish transition when at the
