以新潟縣佐渡島收集稻米後的稻草編織而成。在以前的時代，是當地人用來自用的鍋墊，現在則為農業閑散期，農家再多做一些出貨到各地，以舊時代一直流傳至今的技術編織而成。

在房間中，門、窗、雪櫃等大型的設備裝潢大多都是四邊形，「角」的部份自然較多。當中，「角」的形狀讓人感覺冰冷，而在房間中放置一些圓形物品，則可以有效柔和冰冷的氛圍。

在日本書店買書，通常都會送上書套，方便在公眾場合看書時，別人看不到書名和封面，保護私隱。
