It covers the brush roll and internal drive, directs airflow, and gives the nozzle its finished shell. A hood that has been cracked by impacts or warped by heat lets the nozzle flex and rattle, throws off brush roll alignment, and can expose moving parts. Left unaddressed, that flex accelerates wear on the belt, bearings, and motor. A sound replacement hood
