though more rudimentary versions were also made using a single piece of flexible wood such as willow

Each one is created using traditional mortise and tenon joints

Each one is finished in a rough, dark brown glaze and most still have the red wax export seal that is stamped before they can leave China. Note that sizes and actual finishes vary slightly as each jar is individually made.
