This is aromatically quite similar to the grand vin but not quite as perfumed and complex

I first tasted the wine looking at the vineyard which is as close as it gets to the Hermitage hill or Côte-Rôtie

It comes in at 14

A background trace of wood sets off reticent but pure and earth red

ready for pleasure

Jacques Prieur, Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Size:6x750ml This is aromatically quite similar(from young Chambertin vines planted in 1995). Once again, the nose is very ripe with its combination of wood, menthol, mocha and liqueur like aromas of plum and black cherry. There is reasonably good verve to the delicious middle weight flavors that terminate in a warm, grippy and slightly drying finish. This awkward effort is tough to read though I am concerned about the balance over the longer term.
