Yoke-Back Side Chair, Black Lacquer Mirror This little warm elm bedsideThe seat of our black lacquer chair has a smoothed rattan inlay and works perfectly as a dining chair, with a desk or as occasional seating. Antique chairs were often decorated with carvings of good luck symbols or animals, and the 'S' shaped curved back splat on ours shows a dragon in carved relief. The name 'Yoke Back' chair comes from the curved top rail seen on this timeless Chinese design. The style first appeared in China hundreds of years ago
