FINE SILVER & ENAMEL MOUNTED WOOD CROSS MT ATHOS 18THC CHALCOLITHIC AGE The halo gildedA VERY FINE SILVER AND GEMSTONE MOUNTED CARVED BOXWOOD CRUCIFIX, MT. ATHOS, 18TH CENTURY. The double sided cross form carved with the crucifixion on one side and with the Four Evangelists at the cross ends. The verso carved with the Baptism of Christ. Contained in a presumably silver filigree and cloisonn enameled mount set with coral, seed pearls, and faux gemstones. Overall height 6. 6 inches (17 cm).
