The brass hardware is still intact and would have allowed the trunk to be locked to secure the owner's person effects and possessions

Miao Embroidered Cushion Cover Tassar Made from solid reclaimed elmThese brightly patterned cushions are hand stitched on both sides using old cotton and hemp fabric taken from the hems of the dresses of the Miao people. One of China's largest ethnic minorities, the Miao live mainly in Guizhou province and are well know for their colourful embroidered fabrics and silver jewellery. The vintage fabric is carefully cut and stitched by hand, so each cushion cover is unique. The images shown here are examples only.
