It uses larger LED bulbs that are visible in the 'exit' lettering, rather than hiding a smaller LED strip within the housing like most signs. Unlike other LED units that only offer a 75 ft viewing distance, direct view LED exit signs can be seen up to 300 feet away! And because the LEDs are not hidden they are highly visible in smoke filled environments.
