To photograph this contrast I got a little lower and also found a line in the hardpan to bring your eye into the scene and towards the sunlight

As it was near sunset I first thought about the lights of cars passing by the park

As we sailed into Scoresby Sound we were surrounded by large icebergs

First Sunrise of 2012 in Denver Reflection To photograph this contrast IThe start of a new year is usually marked by sleeping in late due to the celebration from the prior night heading into the early hours of January 1st. To start off 2012, I fought the urge to sleep in and woke up in time to capture the first sunrise over Denver. As I waited for the sun to rise it was obvious people were still heading home after a long night, however like myself they were treated to the clouds lighting this first morning of 2012.
