Iao Needle Sunset Maui Volcanic The name MoloaaIao Valley is a Lush stream cut valley in West Maui. In Hawaiian Iao means "cloud supreme" and is the second wettest spot in Hawaii receiving up 386 inches of rain a year. The needle is an extension of and surrounded by the cliff of the West Maui Mountains.
