The wine is clearly at its prime, with woodland and savoury aromas and lingering notes of black fruit confit. The influence of the vintage conditions is presented by the reassuringly solid palate, and the tannins play an important role in supporting the fruit, delivering contrast and delineation. Batailley 03 is at, or close to, its peak now; it should continue to
