This curvaceous vase has been reduction fired, a process in which rather large natural iron pyrite particles in the clay have converted back to their metallic form and melted, resulting in a dramatically speckled form. The vase, a large and weighty piece, shows off a subtle pentadecagon body from the base to bottom of the neck, where it transitions to a more fluted stem. We recognise the expert
