It blesses the Lord in thanksgiving to Him! However, I should warn you, while it is Catholic, in the spirit of holy Catholics, and could have been written by Francis of Assisi, it was written by Sir Walter Scott. It was an Illuminated manuscript to illustrate his book The Talisman. It was in the 1830 edition put out by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, a London bookmaker still in existence. (source: The Studio
