The shape is of a tapered barrel form topped with a flat rim and two round lug handles which would have been used to carry the vessel using cane or a similar material. The piece is coloured a rich deep red brown with moss yellow ashing and patchy salt glazing from the kiln. From the personal collection of prolific English potter, Richard Batterham, the crock has
