These pieces are made from porcelain fired to 1300c in a reduction atmosphere. The blue colour once again comes from the degassing of iron oxide in an oxygen deprived kiln atmosphere. Achieving the perfect glaze thickness and application is exceptionally challenging, as it must be precisely controlled to the millimetre, too
