I think - well

entirely covered in hand painted decoration including bird with egg filled nest

even in the navy blue you see as base color in the mounts on this larger box

Vintage Watercolor Painting in Frame, Serenity - Lake Pastoral with Boat Box A very little restoration doneI love this old painting! It's so peaceful and calming, it's hanging in my home right now. The painting is a watercolor (aquarelle) rather than oil painting. Nicely framed, the frame will stay with the painting, of course. Signed by the artist, lower left, "Ed Heirman", and we have no date on it but I'd put it c. 1930 50 from the frame. The mat portion of this frame has also been oil painted to accent the palette of the painting, to wonderful effect.
