The whorl includes a sprinkling of real tiny 'teasel' seed heads (actually Eryngium).. The hand turned shaft of this spindle was shaped as one with the whorl, resulting in superior balance. The whorl was created on the lathe from one of my own custom made resin blanks, not pre formed in a mould, so each and every one of our spindles has its own distinct shape,
