It installs ahead of the motor, catching the fine dust that clears the cyclone stage before that air reaches the motor windings. A pre filter packed with dust restricts airflow, raises motor temperature, and slowly drags down suction, sometimes far enough to trip the thermal cutout. Because this filter is washable, a rinse or a replacement reopens the
