This one appear to have a clear coat over the exterior and covering all of the brass boulle inlays

just that the size opening indicates it

an American chemist

The outer frame appears to be in mahogany and the glass appears original though who really knows after all of these years (I see no waviness or tiny air bubbles which would have been an obvious sign)
