This crackle patterned Septanian specimen originates from Utah and is formed by crystalized mud. Septarian is formed of calcite (the yellow crystal crystals), Aragonite (the deep brown lines and striations) and Limestone (the outer grey mineral). Septarian is derived from the Latin work septem meaning seven. These nodules were formed 50 70 million years ago in Utah. 2.
