German Linen Throw Pillow sesami-service Exhibited at The Metropolitan MuseumCut from a 19th Century linen grain sack Germany. Woven in the mid 19th century from heavy linen or hemp, this grain sack was built for utilityused to haul and store harvests across farms in Central and Eastern Europe. The weave is dense and durable. Markings in stripes or hand stitched initials identified the family or farm it belonged to. Any visible repairs were done not for decoration, but to keep it working. What remains is strong, honest cloth
