Not knowing, you might think she is just a girl in a white dotted gown with a red shawl, maybe Napoleonic era. But if you know the iconography, the clothing styles and the reason she has that draped red shawl or scarf, it helps you date her more accurately. Her portrait is a political statement, as is her fashion. Royalist to the bone, she wears the guillotine haircut and the red silk scarf is a symbol of the blood that
